Art Foundations II

Welcome to Mastering the Elements of Art

Art Foundation I

Art Foundation II is designed specifically for school-age children in 3rd and 4th grade (ages 8-10).

Building on the skills developed in Foundation I, this LIVE ONLINE (zoom) course helps your child refine their artistic skills. and deepen their understanding of how to use the elements of art in fun expressive ways.
My step-by-step lessons are designed to inspire creativity while helping your child grow in confidence and ability.

Your child will learn:

improve drawing skills by focusing on quality of line and details.
creating patterns (line design) using line and shape.
explore the color wheel and color expression
introduction to cast shadow
introduction to negative space.
introduction to oil pastels and watercolors.

By the end of this course, your child will have an exciting new portfolio showing off their growing artistic skill!

This course can be taken twice
before lessons repeat.

Learning Target Overview

Line: use structure lines to express an idea/feeling, show details and create repetitive patterns.
Shape/Form: practice making geometric forms out of geometric shapes.
Value: use the value key to add shading to shapes to create form.
Color: use complimentary colors to create focus and darken colors.
Science Integration: Some lessons will present a Science topic, like clouds, in a visual format.
Literature integration: many lessons are introduced with a short stories that teaches a developmental idea, an emotional expression or a life-skill theme.
